01 / PICK YOUR STARTING POINT

Different cities.
The same wide-eyed feeling.

Big-city energy or an ocean breeze?
Start with a place that feels like you.

A good first day has room to breathe. These are suggested routes, not a race to tick every box.

03 / LAND SOFTLY

A little prepared.
A lot more present.

Sort the small stuff before you arrive.
Leave the rest of the day for the good stuff.

↗THE FIRST MOVE

Get into the city.

Compare the airport’s official ground-transport options. Save your accommodation address and an offline route before leaving Wi-Fi.

⌁STAY CONNECTED

Make room for offline.

Download a city map, check your roaming or eSIM setup, and keep a charged power bank handy. Screenshots still work without signal.

☀BE KIND TO YOURSELF

Leave some breathing room.

Check the forecast, dress for the day, and choose one neighbourhood first. A late arrival is a good reason to start with dinner and an early night.

A FEW THINGS, BEFORE YOU GO

Good questions.
Easy answers.

Firstday is an independent travel guide for your first hours in a new American city. One thoughtful route at a time.

What if my flight lands in the afternoon?+

Start with the afternoon stop, then dinner. Save the morning ideas for tomorrow. The times are a suggested rhythm once you are settled, not a schedule from your plane’s arrival.

Can I do everything without a car?+

It depends on the city. Each itinerary includes transport notes and map links. Los Angeles in particular needs more travel time between areas. Check the route from your accommodation before heading out.

Are opening hours and tickets included?+

We link to official visitor resources so you can check current hours, access and booking requirements. Timings are suggestions, and admission, travel and meal costs are not included.

Can I keep my itinerary?+

Yes. Save a day in this browser or download it as a text file to take with you. Your saved day and checklist stay on this device; clearing browser storage removes them.

How do you choose the stops?+

We pair a few recognisable sights with space to eat, walk and get your bearings. Official city and attraction resources inform each route. Use the resource link in your selected guide for current details.
